Mitchell is an award-winning director and producer. Fluent in the craft, he especially enjoys rolling up his sleeves.

Mitchell founded and operated rednaveL fLmworx from 1997 to 2011, which started as a post-production house and expanded into film and television production services, including RED Camera Rentals, Workflow/DIT Services, Offline and Online Editorial, Digital Color Correction, Titles and Effects.

While running rednaveL, Mitchell produced over twenty films, collaborating with such creative talents as Matthew McConaughey, Jack Black, Michael Shannon, John C. Reilly, Elle Fanning, Amber Heard, Pharrell Williams, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Kate Walsh and Jane Lynch. His films were selected for film festivals worldwide including Sundance, HBO Aspen Comedy Fest and SXSW among others.

In the short form and television arena, Mitchell has produced commercial spots for Coca-Cola, Levi’s, Volvo, and Hyundai, among others and many television promos for the award-winning Stun Creative. He was a full-time consultant for 195 episodes of Dick Wolf’s Arrest & Trial.

Mitchell began directing in the world of advertising. His notable endeavors include a three spot campaign for Monster.com and two award-winning brand films for Vogel Alcove along with an assortment of PSA’s and music videos. He was just hired to direct his third film for this fantastic non-profit school in early 2019.

He was recruited in 2011 to act as Digital Creative Director for advertising agency, Rucker & Co, where he spent two years creating, writing, producing and overseeing digital and video content.

Hired in 2013 as Head of Production for Cartel Pictures, he spent two years actively overseeing all of the pre-production, physical production and post-production for the company. He produced several feature films while at The Cartel including DEFENDING SANTA for ION Channel and both CRIMES OF THE MIND and ANATOMY OF DECEPTION for Lifetime among others.

Since leaving The Cartel, Mitchell has been finding his stride in the independent world producing several features back to back in one capacity or another including CHAIN OF COMMAND for Lion’s Gate’s Grindstone Entertainment and a western, OUTLAWS & ANGELS, starring Luke Wilson, which premiered at Sundance 2016. His work over the past three years while teamed with Dan Grodnik, includes collaborating with and producing multiple pictures including the boxing drama TIGER, starring Mickey Rourke, the horror/thriller MARA starring Olga Kurylenko and the soon-to-be-released action film, PRIMAL, for Lion’s Gate starring Nicolas Cage and Famke Janssen. Their latest project together, GUN MONKEYS starring Kevin Costner, is scheduled to lens in 2019.

Most recently, Mitchell line produced and directed second unit on two pictures with prolific producer, Andrew Stevens. THE WRONG AFFAIR for Lifetime and SEND IT!, a boy-meets-girl drama set in the international world of professional kiteboarding. The picture stars Denise Richards and Michael Jai White.

Mitchell is well-rounded and well-versed in his abilities as a filmmaker, bringing much expertise to the operations of a film company. From development to delivery; breaking down a script, scheduling and budgeting, to working diligently to close deals with talent, bond companies and financial institutions, to drilling down on cost reports and overseeing post-production, he has worked intimately alongside some of Hollywood’s most seasoned producers in the business, Dan Grodnik, Kirk Shaw and Andrew Stevens.

In his spare time, Mitchell loves to watch movies and play his guitar along with spending time with his lovely wife of over four years, Deborah, after successfully chasing her off and on for a third of a century. At most other times, you can find Mitchell chasing tax incentives.

Singularly focused.  Well oiled.
